A veteran of the global payments industry, Mr. Almeida provides critical oversight of Lightspeed’s financial services roadmap and enterprise risk management program. His track record in scaling cross-border transaction platforms ensures that the Board maintains a disciplined and aggressive approach to capture increasing Gross Payment Volume (GPV).

Mr. Almeida is a seasoned global business leader with over 40 years of experience driving growth and transformation across the financial services, fintech, technology, and consumer goods sectors. He has led successful digital transformations and global expansions across the U.S., Europe, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. He currently serves as an Operating Partner at Advent, a leading global private equity firm. Previously, Mr. Almeida was Chief Executive Officer of ACI Worldwide, a global payments software and solutions provider. During his 17-year tenure at Western Union, he held senior leadership roles, including President of Western Union Global Money Transfer, where he led a $5 billion consumer business spanning more than 200 countries and territories.

Mr. Almeida has extensive board experience and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board at Amerant Bancorp and as an Independent Director at NCR Atleos and at MarineMax. He has also served on the board of Millicom International, chairing the Business Conduct and Compliance Committee.
